Every cloud has a sliver lining they say

In this case, make it platinum! For years we have been used to the most rediculous water pressure - really if you open a tap downstairs there was no water in the shower.

So on Monday, on Hunter's day off when he was suppose to do things he like as Lucy was there for the kids (it was a school holiday too), he phones just after 8 to say that the geyser is leaking - big stream of water (into my cupboard mainly). I call our friendly plumber and he confirms that indeed the geyser has burst and that it will be an insurance claim - he very kindly did not bill us a cent after rushing to our help in minutes. At all of 13 years old I guess it is expected. The insurance was rather brilliant (especially as it is the red bank's whom I really hate) and sent over a really nice plumber who for our excess amount of R500,00 provided us with a brand new geyser that has a spiffy new temperature regulator in that should save some electricity.

He also had to change a valve to fit the new SANS regulations and as he took off the old one, he remarked on how this must have been faulty for years. This just flies by us - just a little fact - he shows Hunter how to clean the valve from time to time. As they open the water and the top bath's taps I hear something close to the Vic falls rushing into the bath. Wow! My word! We have water pressure to die for!

You can not believe how happy this little thing makes me. Totally! Huge huge platinum lining.

Another (slightly hidden) platinum lining is that at present while my cupboard is drying out, I have almost all my clothes stacked in a spare cot in the boy's room and in their cupboards. The perfect time to de-clutter big, big time.I am going to be totally ruthless and just chuck out! I know of a couple of charities that would make good use of them.

  1. I'm with you. This sure is a big big platinum lining. I can so imagine your frustration, living with poor water pressure for years. Jeez!
But luckily, all is now sorted and I am sure you all are going to enjoy the new water pressure thing in the home.

  2. YAY for water pressure. Seriously without any sarcasm. I've lived in places where you shower under a trickly of water and it's just not lovely.

  3. That is huge! We also have somewhat bad water pressure but hey, maybe I should just get a plumber in to sort out. R500 is worth it to have a decent shower even when V is doing dishes...

and please take a pic of the BEFORE pile of clothes, and then of the AFTER and show off :)

  4. That worked out great!
that beats water pressure. We had a weekend of no water, so I also see water gushing from the tap as a huge blessing!

  5. Oh Cat, water pressure is COMPLETELY under-appreciated until you don't have it! Happy Platinum Lining! :)

  7. @e0e489fc4ec6017f073ed0a9e8f2241a Gosh, I did not think of taking a picture. Now the shelf half is already sorted last night and about one black bag given to Lucy - she wanted 99% and that is my first sipo for charity.

I think I need to de-clutter too.  All my clothes would NEVER fit into one baby's cot.

  12. Oh cool! I hate opening a tap and then pacing around waiting for it to spit something out. And yay for declutter too, I'm on that mission as well.

  13. Perfect time to try out some new looks as well ... and things you'd never have dared to before ... hope you had fun doing a declutter of your wardrobe.

See me, I'm doing some serious catching up :-)

    Hugs
