Makes my Monday and Magic marker Monday.

Playing along with Cheryl - what a great way to start the week.

And as I am featuring something crafty again, I am also playing along at 5 minutes for special needs.

Hunter was away this weekend, guiding a trail in the Pilansberg national park - they had to evacuate yesterday morning due to a fire in the park - a bit scary. They did have great elephant and rhino sightings though.

What makes my Monday is that I am really getting good at surviving these weekends on my own with the kiddos - in fact, I am doing more than surviving - we are actually having fun. One of the thing we did was the melting crayon craft I have seen on so many blogs. The Little Miss loved it, The Boys build towers with them but started drawing by late yesterday.

Ready to go in.

In the oven for about 8 minutes. Cool down in freezer.

The finished product - the smaller faerie cake tins certainly works better. Check the mega oil pastel at the bottom!

Featured artist - The Little Miss.

We tried it with oil pastels as well, and it works even better! The colors stay separate and it draws really easily.

  1. Hey, what a cool idea! I've never seen that before.
Stopped by from SITS...I too am the mum of fraternal twins...a boy and girl and a little princess. They are now 8,8 and 9 but I remember the younger ages soooo well.
All I can tell you is, it gets easier. :O)
    Lovely to meet you. x

  2. This is such an awesome idea of a craft. I love it and I am so going to try it.

  3. I forgot about this little craft tip and I just dumped out a big box of crayons at the end of last school year.

  4. What a great way to use the broken crayons:-)

  5. Oh wow..i haven't done that since I was a kid...and we'd make candles out of old crayons. Neat-o!!
Love the pictures they made too.

  6. How WONDERFUL!!!!! My kids' classmate gave them one of these melted wonder crayons in preschool and I'd entirely forgotten about it---now I am excited to make some!

You've Made My Monday! (as you so often do...) Thanks for playing along, Cat!

  7. Now that's a fabulous idea, just love it. I may even put it on my 'list.' we'll just have to see how much time I'm allowed.

  8. oh! Its been a long time since I've done that! I did it in my classroom one of my first years of teaching but its been a while. Might have to do it with the crayon stubs in my room and make something fun for my own kiddos!

  9. That is a very cool idea. My MIL was just saying she has a lot of broken crayons what a great wya to use them! Thanks!

  10. FUN! We did this too and I've had a draft post on it kicking around in by blog for ages that I've never gotten around to posting ;) They turned out great!

    Welcome to MMM!
