Friday - 18 February

Mommy's Idea
It's Friday and time to get the little its and bits out of the system:

I was reprimanded by the Princess this week:
A: Mommy, why did you put a white bread sandwich into my little lunch box?
Me: Because we had white bread in the house. (we almost never have white bread in the house)
A: Mommy, you know it is not healthy food. You should not be feeding me food that is not healthy. It is not good for my bones and hair and blood. You're naughty!
Me: (Thinking to myself: So shoot me! I was feeling like white bread a real butter just for once)
  •  We had a huge thunder storm on Wednesday night with a cloudburst of rain. Scary stuff.
  • Flying solo this weekend with the kids - here's hoping they will all be happy campers at least.
  • Hunter worked late last night. Was so worried about him driving after working for 18 hours.
  • Going to lunch today with him and the princess. We almost never get the chance so I am really looking forward to it.
  • I did not go to the funeral yesterday. I just could not.
  • I have decided to get some girls together for a moms time-out weekend. I hope I get at least 3 interested girls. It would be great just to get away a bit. Just to stop being mommy for a weekend. We all need that.
  • I realized that if it is Lent it is also 40 days until we go on a week long holiday! Jipppeeee!=
  • I am looking for silver heels - not too high, for a wedding. Very unsuccessful search.I am frustrated.
  • The dress on the other hand was bought for next to nothing at a Chinese shop. Saw it in the window, fits perfectly, cost R190,00. Would have never tried itor even went into the shop if the voice in the head did not say, just give it a go. (That's for like nothing in dollars - some  T-shirts will cost more than that.)
  • Does anybody know what happened to Yaya?( lover of orange)

  1. that's terrible about your friend. i just ran a conference one of the speakers lived in pretoria, one emigrated to adelaide and his stories are all too familiar and similar to yours.

on a happier note - i hope you find the silver shoes!

    i visited yaya's blog once - what's happened?

  3. I heard that Yaya had to take her blog down due to the adoption agency not wanting her to post pictures of the little boy they're adopting. I SO hope she puts it back up soon!
Shame on you for feeding that child white bread!! ;o)

  6. Oh, I would resent being told what I can and can't eat by a little girl although we do always get the whole wheat bread so I'd think she'd approve.

Cute pictures, especially liked the munchkin monster and the candy bar!

  13. We hardly ever have white bread in the house. When we do, there's always some left after lunch. Give them a sandwich made with wheat bread and its GONE.

    Your pics are great. Adorable.

My kids started on Grain bread and got fussy and I ended up with 'whole grain' white bread... better than plain white I tell myself! Thanks for visiting! Hope to see you again!

  20. We mostly have white bread for sandwiches but I get all kinds of different breads for having with meals and when visitors come - variety is the spice of life and all that.

I hope you get your weekend away, it sounds like a brilliant idea :-)

You've just reminded me how little time we have before we head off for the dark ages reenactment camp we're attending at Easter - and I have so much sewing and crafting to do to get ready! *panics*

  21. I love the pictures, I so wish I had such a great camera and your great eye for the photograph.

And, I am so sorry about your dear friend, that is sincerely tragic. His family must be devastated as well.

  22. Taking pictures of such tasty looking food is just mean. :)

The pictures of your children are wonderful -- and I love the shot of your daughter with the flowers. Blurry used to bother me more than it does now. I don't usually aim for blurry, but I've often found subtle and hidden beauty in images that you might disregard at first glance.

    I think yours is beautiful.

  24. Love the photos of your little ones...they are SO adorable.

Hope you get your silver heels, and enough friends for the girls weekend.

I am jealous of your thunder showers...it is bone dry here.

  25. I love white bread with peanut butter "yum". My son hates brown bread but every now and again he has to eat it. I sent the kids to my mom for the weekend, so it is ME time and HUBBY time!!!

  26. Yaya had to delete her blogs because of the pending adoption. It appears that she is done blogging.

  27. The pics are fantastic.

Your daughter's reprimand was awesome; loved it.

Good luck on the shoe search!

Yaya's adoption agencies found and read her blog and were not pleased. She is no longer blogging but is still on Facebook. At last email, the adoption had been suspended as a result of the blogging, but was finally back on. Whew.

Maybe you even fine the shoes!

  30. I think I've said this to you on more than one occassion but I LOVE your PHOTOS! They are so crisp and clear and have such vibrant color! I just LOVE THEM! What kind of camera do you have?

I'm sorry to hear about Yaya. This is one of the big reasons my blog has changed. I want to always be mindful of what I'm posting so nothing can impact our chances at adoption. Esp. now with potential birth mothers/families reading it.
