Friday Fragments - 9 October

This is my very first time to do Friday fragments, but it is so tempting to be able to just wrap up the week in little tidbits.

Ok, so I was not planning to do this one, but Barack Obama winning the Nobel Peace prize just really got to me. So he is in the company of distinguished South African men like Nelson Mandela, FW de Klerk and Archbishop Desmund Tutu - for what? Giving hope? What? So nobody else in the world did anything remotely peaceful in the last 10 years? Ok 20 years? Nothing against Obama but this is just wrong. You know the weird thing (I actually never wrote it back at election time) - in the USA he is seen as the first "black" president. Here in South Africa he is not black enough to be president. Weird weird world that we live in.

So the Little Miss got time out yesterday at school because she led 5 of her bestest (her words) friends to play in a puddle of mud and make a nice mess. Why do I not see that much wrong in it? I think it stimulates tactile awareness, is very creative and easy to share. And why else do they have to carry an extra set of clothes in their school bags if they can not mess on the ones they are wearing?

This week at work I have dealt with two of the rudest and most unprofessional people I have chanced on ever! Gosh, may next week be a lot better. Worst is if you are at fault and then get rude to others.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have recently noticed a lot of traffic on my site that do not comment - so I went to my friendly Statcounter. Guess what post is attracting up to 12 hits a day? If you type the words: "best play dough recipe" I am your third hit with this post. Maybe I can sell that recipe? Now maybe if the visitors can comment I at least will know if it works for others. It is rude not to comment - ok!

We are going on a date night tonight for the first time in almost forever. I am as excited as a high school girl on a first date. Now let's pray no kid get' sick in the next 12 hours or so.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What has your social life come to if you are looking forward to a kiddies birthday party tomorrow so that you can interact with some of your favorite friends. Scary!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This little gem from the Lil' Miss after I told her that the other half of the twins will also have an operation and get grommets in two weeks time: " It's so not fair! I never go to hospital. I never had an operation." Yeah my sweetheart, I guess if you are 4 and a half it feels that way, but mommy is surely glad one of her kids are healthy.

  1. Welcome!

I get a lot of traffic regarding "LG Dishwasher Errors". I had an LG that I blogged extensively about. Even wrote a haiku about it. Now I get traffic from a post about Lenin. Very strange.

And yeah. The Nobel. What is up with that? And I'm a HUGE Democrat. It makes no sense whatsoever.

  3. Oh Little Miss. Hayden said that same thing to me when I had to take Quinn to the ER. He so wanted to go. He was trying to think of anything that would make me take him.

  5. Have fun on your date!

I'm really bothered by the Obama thing... I didn't think the peace prize was given out for having good intentions, I thought it was given out for actually DOING something with those good intentions!

  6. Oooh! Date night! Have FUN!!

I like your 'take' on the Little Miss leading 5 of her bestest friends to play in the mud. Why else would the extra change of clothes be needed if not for this type of learning experience (and fun)? :)

Rude and unprofessional people are really annoying.

It would be nice if some of the lurkers would come out and play by leaving comments, wouldn't it? It's fun to play! :)

Happy FF - enjoy your weekend!!

  7. Hello! Thanks for joining in this week! :) You're a pro fragmenter already. Happy to host a place for you to unload :)

I agree on the Nobel prize issue; it kind of makes a mockery of the "honor."

Wow-A date night AND kiddie birthday party?! Sounds like a nice weekend is headed your way :)

I agree with you...rude not to comment..my blog does not often get many comments..i'm not even sure how to check traffic??
    ..
time out for splashing in puddles..wow..if that happened my Joe would be on constant time out.
He uses his change of clothes at least 3x a week.
    ..
hope you have a great date night
    ciao

  11. Poor Lil Miss feeling left out. After we took adam to the hospital this week, J&S have both been talking about how sick their bears are and that they need to go to the Dr too...but thankfully they don't seem to feel too bad they didn't get to go. they'll get their chance this week when I take all 3 for their flu shots. ;-)

  12. First I hope you had a great time on your date.

And I agree with you about that's the reason why we send extra clothes anyway. My daughter used to go to this daycare where they would change them in the middle of the day even if their clothes weren't dirty.
