Following on Monday's photo of The Boys learning words, I dug out my old photos and started looking for The Little Miss learning from the same book. She had the astounding vocabulary of more than 50 words at 18 months, was busy making little sentences and was fully bilingual by 28 months. I have no such hope for my boys but they are learning fast. (Edited to add - most South Africans are at least bilingual as adults)
Timeline: End of August 2006
Place: Vergelegen near Lydenburg in the Mpumalanga province.
Age: 19 months
We had a great weekend with 2 of my cousins and aunt at this stunningly beautiful place. Here she and granny are busy learning new pets.
For some more blasts from the past, head over to Cheryl's and play along and if like me, and Angie at 7 Clown circus's Wordful Wednesday you have to "talk" about your photographs, head over there to have a look as well.
Wow, bilingual at 28 months. Mine is 29 months and can't even pee on the potty chair. I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteBilingual even!!! Astounding.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wordful to you today. If you can, stop by for my 'twin towers', I'd love your company.
Awwww....that makes me miss my granny! Cute photo!
ReplyDeleteShe's mighty cute. She sounds very smart.
ReplyDeleteWOW! What a smart little cookie! I would love to learn a second language! More importantly, I would love to be able to teach my children a second language!
ReplyDeleteWow! Bilingual at such a young age!! Amazing. Forgive me if this answer is obvious, but what other language do you speak?
ReplyDeleteWow...that's amazing.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I had a hard enough time learning French in college these last couple of years. I will be fine as long as I can just order water or ask what the time is.
ReplyDeleteThat is so great to be bilingual at such a young age.
ReplyDeleteMy girls talked before my boys.....but only in ONE language! :) I'm so glad you played along today!
ReplyDeleteThat is a photo Little Miss will love all her life.
ReplyDeleteI think girls talk younger. My cousin has twins and her doctor told her twins usually talk later than singles. Hers did talk a little later but you would never know it now.
we have that book! they just tore it apart today :( my girls have giant vocabularies as well, but james isn't quite as wordy.
ReplyDeleteMy mom to this day continues to remind me of my goal of speaking 9 languages by the time I graduated from college. Embarrassingly, I'd be generous in saying I spoke MAYBE 1.5! (Now, barely 1!)
ReplyDeleteKudos to your Little Miss on her bilingual abilities...and to you for fostering them and being justly proud!
Thank you for playing along with Way Back When-esday, Cat!
What a sweet photo and such a smartie! Very impressive!
ReplyDeleteWhich 2 languages does she speak?
Wow! What a smart little angel!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter's almost two and is just starting to say a few words!
Sweet picture :)
