The doctor weighed and measured, checked and pronounced him healthy. The she added the numbers to his growth chart and what a surprise - his weight is now at the 10th percentile and his height at the 25th percentile. It seems he has grown a lot but little man C definitely had a growth spurt of note - hence the bigger size difference. She also calculated his genetic expected height, which should be above the 75th percentile. His sister is at the 98th percentile in height at present, which is over her expected genetic height, but we have very tall genes in the families. We have therefore decided to give him time to grow until his 3 year check-up and if he has not progressed on the height chart (his weight will be under average because he of his low muscle tone) she will do a bone-age test to determine if he possibly has a younger bone age. His growth chart will then be adapted. If not, we will proceed to growth hormone tests etc. So little boy, please continue to grow! And grow!

Glad to hear he's doing well. Our little one is 5 lbs lighter than his twin brother and we've been ordered to give him one bottle of pediasure a day and we have to come back in the beginning of July for a weight check. Apparently he wasn't on the growth chart anymore for weight.
ReplyDeleteHe's adorable and I do hope he grows more and more and more!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy W/W!
oh man he is tiny...and precious!!
ReplyDeleteGreat things come in small packages! God is going to bless him during his slow growth, because God has a plan for Little Man L! Big Plans!! happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteYou can't see on the photo's that Little L is as small! Glad that the ped could arrest the fears!
ReplyDeleteNow grow, Little Man L!
We've been told our son may need some growth hormone testing too. He's in the 0 percentile or something insane for height and not much better at weight. I seriously think he's weighed the same the last two years.
ReplyDeleteAwww, that's great!! Keep growing little L. Give him extra protein!
ReplyDeleteGreat job Mom! Keep up the good work:-)
ReplyDeleteWonderful news Cat!
ReplyDeleteGrow Little Man grow grow grow!
ReplyDeleteHe will, don't you worry. And such a cutie patootie!
He's adorable.
ReplyDeleteEach child has their own path to follow.
Kaylin was born 2kg and even at age 4 and a half she still only weighs 14kg and is a short-shit like her mum. She eats everything in sight so I don't worry too much.
She's just little.
We have to looked at each of our kids throught different eyes even though we want to treat the all the same.
They're all so different that we have no choice but to treat them all differently.
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, what a relief for you :)
ReplyDeleteOH! He is just so so sweet.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad he has been growing and gaining. That is awesome news.
Perhaps he's just going to be a smaller guy?
Glad he's growing! He could be like my lil sister. My parents are about average, maybe slightly above average height. My maternal grandfather was very tall though and 3 of the 4 of us siblings got it, too. My oldest brother was 6 feet, 6 inches. My 2nd brother is 6'3". I am 6'1"....and then my sister is a measly 5'5"!!! soooo much shorter! we joke that mom ran out of the tall genes before she got to her since we all got a lil bit shorter :-)
ReplyDeleteMy kids, also, are tall...Jacob's always been 97%!! he's like 43" now at just 3.5 years.
I have definitely learned from having twins that all kids are different! That said, I'm glad to hear that L is growing onto his chart. I hope that the testing finds no worries for you and just a "shorter/smaller" path for L to follow.
ReplyDeleteGlad to read the doctor gave you some good and very hopeful news! Sending you hugs and growth dust!
ReplyDeleteOh Sweet Cat, isn't it extra challenging when you have a same-aged sibling to "compare"? Our She-Twin rode the 3% weight curve until age 5 when she moved up to the 10% (where she's remained since). Her brother? 97% height.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping your sweet boy grows and grows and stays happy and as the doctor declared, HEALTHY!
