Saturday snapshots

So yes, I  missed last Saturday's snpshot linky but alas, sometimes life (and work) gets into the way of blogging. For this week, I had to search my old files as I have been too sick to think about taking photos and too busy to care. But I do like the little selection I have for you. The theme this week is Letters/words

Spetember Saturday Snapshots - week 2

So it's time for our little photo challenge again with Marcia and Mandy . I decided to do it again - take 5 minutes and take the 5 pictures like I did last week - but this time at our own home.

So without further ado - my textures and patterns:

Tree trunk in our garden - can you see the face?

Brick patterns and lines. Love the sense on perspective.

I edited this one in black and white to bring out the leaf pattern.

I love the textures on the sea shell mobile.

Lovely simplicity in the pattern on the pation table.

September Saturday Snapshots

So, I have committed to play along with Mandy and Marcia for their September Saturday snapshots. The first week's theme is "colour" and I decided before hand to take new pictures as I have sadly been neglecting my photography in the last few months. By Friday morning I still had nothing, so I popped in at the flower seller accross the road from the Princess' school, took some pictures and also filled one of my weekend goals.Seeing that tomorrow is officially the first day of Spring here in the Southern Hemisphere, I think it is very appropriate. So presenting you with a flower rainbow:

Picnic at granny's

Last Saturday welcomed us with almost summer weather and we had a little picnic in granny's garden. Her little winter garden is so colourful and bright with birds galore.

Remember my mom's orchid plant with the 10 strings of flowers? Last time I took a picture of the buds, almost 2 moths ago. Well, now they are starting to open. Spectacular!

We baked.....

Last Saturday (and Sunday) my assistant bake and I baked.
 A lot.

Choc chip cookies with smarties ( like M&M)

Cupcakes.

And

And fresh bread.

This weekend I am not baking. At all. I will be enjoying good company in Cape Town.

The abslute joy of Kinder Joy.

Our kids love the Kinder Eggs - what's not to love about it? We however, keep it for a special treat once in a while. Last Saturday granny treated them. Yummy!

A relaxing breakfast with old friends.

 I haven't seen these two in months - during which they both became grannies twice. Elize on the left's son had a little girl in September and her daughter a little boy in March. Linda became granny of twins on the 22nd of December but sadly the little girl passed away 2 days later. The little boy came home a month ago after 122 days in the NICU. It was great talking and catching up.

A morning at Safari nursery - Saturday snapshots

We had a delightful morning at Safari nursery. We were there at 9am and the kids played a full hour and a half before anybody showed any indecation of not being 100% happy.

What I love about this place is that it is free (of course we do support their tea garden afterwards with a couple of chocolate milkshakes) and safe and enclosed. It is also super clean and neat. It houses a big jungle gym on a huge sandpit (we always take a couple of plastic animals and cars along), all surrounded by the animal cages that houses bunnies, chickens, pot bellied pigs, mountain goats, birds and monkeys.

It was a fun morning and afterwards we all had a nap, granny included.

Maybe we will bake again today!

 I am planning to do some baking sometime in the business of Saturday, but what about showing you last Saturday's batch.

I used a pre-mix as I didn't have a lot of time (Ina Paarman's chocolate cake) and baked it in my mini-cake silicon tins (I have a heart and a flowers one)

Then I filled the indents with caramel.

Some icing and cute little sugar flowers on top.

We had a family girls dinner at our place as Hunter was away and my mom and cousins loved them for dessert.
