That's what friends are for...
Playing along on a Wednesday (as per usual) with Cheryl at Twinfatuation and Angie at 7 Clown Circus:
Those of you that are regular readers will know that we have had 3 weeks of horrible sleeplessness and crying little boys. So guess what I found on my desk at work yesterday on returning from a meeting:
A Mango and granadilla smoothie, Mixed berry smoothy, cranberry, almond and chocolate biscotti and a CD on sleep for toddlers. All of this courtesy of my best friend (literally now almost) forever, Hesti. Now I tell you, is that not awesome!
As background, I quote from a previous post (read there if you want to know more): Hesti, my best friend of 20 years and I both have twins. And this is not where the co-incidence stops! Both of us have daughters that are almost exactly the same amount of months older than our twins (both pairs boy/boy). Both set of twins were spontaneous, in both cases there is no family history of twins. Both of us tried in some way to plan our second pregnancy - she for what she believed was the perfect spacing, I for a much wanted boy. She planned according to parenting books, I to Dr. Shettles' method. Both of us were show by God that He does the planning. Is that not wonderful? And am I not the luckiest girl to have a best friend that can support me and knows what I am going through as she has been there, done that, a couple of years ago?
Then I started looking for a nice picture of the two of us for Way- back - and stumbled upon my 21st birthday pictures.
Timeline: 2 December 1989
The "normal" way we celebrate 21st birthdays here is with a big dinner and dance party, but my birthday is slap bang in the middle of our long summer holiday which means very few friends were actually in the city at the time. So I decided on a Victorian tea party and luncheon at the Sammy Marks house, a historical mansion outside our city built in Victorian times. We all dressed up and we had great fun.
The group (minus Dirk who took the photo)
And the whole bunch of us - remember you can enlarge the picture by clicking on it.
Me in Victorian lilac grab - stylish, no doubt.
Hesti about whom this is all about.
And this is what it is all about - best friends forever.
